In 2020, we mark the 30th anniversary of the proclamation of October 1 as International Day of Older Persons, based on the decision and Resolution 45/106 of the United Nations General Assembly, adopted on December 14, 1990.
The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 necessarily directed public health and program interventions toward increased risks and the specific needs of the elderly population. Of particular importance is the role of the elderly in maintaining their own health and functional capacity, as well as their active contribution during the confrontation with all phases and circumstances of the pandemic. Consequently, "Pandemics: Are They Changing the Way We Deal with Age and Aging?" Becomes a topic of remembrance at the celebration of October 1 - International Day of Older Persons 2020.
